Original artwork in paint and thread of the view looking towards Chanctonbury Ring, West Sussex from Findon. Piece is worked over natural fabrics - calicos and silk noil, which are layered to form a textured background and then painted before being free motion embroidered in natural rayon threads.
The view itself was taken on a local favourite walk on the South Downs near Findon, looking towards Chanctonbury Ring silhouetted against the skyline on the hills further away. The lines of grasses and trees stepped back like theatre drops, leading the eye up to a distant diamond shaped field which in turn pointed towards the Ring itself standing dark and proud. The view had a quiet harmony that I just had to capture with the winter rhythms of nature.
