Murlough Bay, County Antrim, N IrelandThis secluded bay on the wild and beautiful Antrim coastline in N Ireland has to be one of my favourite places on earth. A small road winds down the steep drop into the bay, becoming ever more challenging to drive as you approach this old boat house - the only building in the bay. With the combination of the trees virtually reaching into the water, the huge rocks on the shore and the single, simple whitewashed cottage it is a magical place to visit. This day was sunny and the water was an iridescent blue against the greys and pinks of the rocks.
The piece is worked on calico, with texture added with silk noil, cotton batting, bandage and even dishcloth, before painting and then stitching.
